Why i chose education

I struggled in school from the very beginning. I excelled at academics, but my social skills needed work. I still struggle with social anxiety. Although we may struggle in different ways, we all want the same thing. We want to be happy and healthy as we complete our journey through life. This trek starts at a young age. Our minds operate at their highest level during our earliest years. Yup, ages birth - five, to be exact, is the best time to set the foundation. These are the most critical years. However, we work with wherever we are in life. As we get older, our challenges prove to be more difficult to overcome. It is crucial that you learn and practice the necessary skills now so that you are successful in whatever life you choose to live. Everyone talks about being rich but rich doesn't mean happy or healthy.

I've said it many times, children are the key to the change we need to see in the world. There is no other way to make change.

The
bottom line

Realistically, every single child deserves one on one attention whether they are excelling academically or not. Although I won't reach every student, I hope to fill a fraction of the gap that has been growing exponentially in our school systems by helping to shape the minds of our future leaders. We probably don't need another rap star or media influencer before we need moral politicians, honest CEOs and exceptional world leaders. We need to make a change in these areas.

About
yOUR educator

Hey, I'm Chantal, creator of TST.

I am a Saint Leo University grad majoring in Educational Studies, Early Childhood Education. I am also an enrollment counselor and your student mentor. I was an educator in the public school system for three years with experience in all grade levels. I've always gotten along well with students. I meet them where they are. In my experience, they appreciate my personal style, my humor and most importantly my honesty. It's no goo goo ga ga with me.

As a classroom educator, I quickly recognized that young learners need more. More time, more attention, more kindness, more understanding, more of the things that have become increasingly difficult for us to provide these days. Many students are missing the connection they need to value education. They lack critical thinking skills, original thought, and at times, common sense. I find originality to be gravely important in the learning process as it is the foundation of innovation. When innovation meets humility and good character, the change we need becomes attainable. Essentially, the goal is to create leaders as opposed to followers. Unfortunately, this education is rarely taught in schools. There is a gap in character and example driven teaching especially in public schools. I talk to children. I ask lots of questions. Then, I pay attention. I listen to what they have to say.

I created TST to continue the mentorship I once provided THAT DOES NOT EXIST IN SCHOOLS but also to make learning fun and applicable. Ultimately my goal was to be a motivational speaker, but I figure why not just bring that to the digital world?

The power of youth is the common wealth for the entire world. The faces of young people are the faces of our past, our present and our future. No segment in society can match with the power, idealism, enthusiasm and courage of the young people..
